About Monique Teggelove
I was born (1966) and raised in The Netherlands. A happy and protected childhood resulted in a solid foundation for my life.
After high school I studied to be a jeweler/goldsmith. Experiences during my internship shifted my perspective. I changed professions and became a secretary. I worked in commercial and non-commercial organizations, assisting managers, CEO’s, board members and a regional police commissioner.
My free time - and money - went to skydiving. Jumping gave me the feeling of total freedom, and of being one with something bigger than me.
In 2005 I realized that I wasn’t feeling happy or fulfilled. It was time for a change. I sold my apartment and set out on a search for a house. As I had quit skydiving the year before, I had time and money to spend on creating a more homely environment and a so-called regular life.
It didn’t quite work out the way I had anticipated. Instead of buying a house, I quit my job, stocked a few belongings, created room for my spiritual side, and started traveling. It didn’t take me long to embrace the freedom and the benefits it offered me. Living out of my backpack, I traveled and hiked criss-cross around the world and set foot on the seven known continents.
In August 2009 I first visited Mali, West Africa. I wasn’t instantly sold on the country. Surprise: late 2010 I settled in Ségou, after having started Papillon Reizen travel agency. The decline in tourism to Mali started only months later. I was challenged to steer the agency through countless crises in the years that followed.
It was late 2019 when I heaved a sigh of relief. We had survived all the crises, turning each one into an opportunity. Finally, time had come to enjoy the results of the hard work. It was a short-lived illusion..!
March 2020 came; the world went into lockdown. I went through a few weeks of worry about my health and worried a bit longer away at how to take care of my team members and their families, as there was no social security system in Mali. I vowed to support them the best way possible and to pull the travel agency through one more crisis.
I also jumped of joy when the world feel silent. It was as if a till then dormant part of my being was waking up. This was the time I was born for!
I grabbed the chance to once again change my life. I enjoyed me-time, started reading and writing again, moved back to The Netherlands, handed Papillon Reizen over to good friend and long-time team member Abdoulaye and embraced my new freedom.
As back in 2005 it felt like the world was at my feet. Time had come to bring out other / new aspects of me.
In November 2021 I traveled to Egypt. A camel trek through the Sinai desert was followed by a journey to the marvels of ancient Egypt. Sekhmet had called me, and she had a wild ride planned for me. One with twists and turns, with events I had not anticipated, with joy, love and grief.
Journeying through the country, I reconnected with lost parts of my being. I had to turn inward, to bring out skills and aspects of me that had been hidden behind a veil. The energies of Egypt’s sites have catapulted me forward on my path.
Even though the roses on the path had plenty of thorns, their smell and beauty made it all worth it.
While in Egypt early 2022, I was encouraged to start channeling. The Divine, the higher dimensional beings, guided me to work through my initial hesitance and resistance (why me?). I am now feeling blessed to receive higher guidance.
It is a common thread in my life that I am the so-called exception to the rule, the strange one, the rebel. While loved by many and despised by some, I am understood by only few. I had to realize and embrace that it doesn’t serve me to try fitting in.
During my time in Mali, my naivety was stripped off. I was forced to see the darkness in the world. This encouraged me to shine my light even brighter. And that is one of the reasons I am here.
Thank you for being here with me!
