an unrecognized opportunity.

The guidebook for the Walk of Wisdom had already been ordered, before I had even set out on the Dutch Mountain Trail. I am longing for nature and for being out on the trails. Having lived abroad and in a quite different environment for many years, it is a joy to explore and reconnect with the beauty of the country I was born in.
There is a lot to enjoy, and having adapted and upgraded my gear since hiking the Dutch Mountain Trail, I have another good reason to set out on a new hiking adventure.
The last thing I had expected, was to meet other hikers at the starting point of the trail at 2pm on a Monday. Not only had I waited for the school holidays to end, I had also opted for an afternoon start. Two other hikers have just arrived at the starting point of the trail, the Steven’s church in Nijmegen. The women welcome me with bright smiles. We chat for a moment and take some photos before setting out on the trail, each at our own pace.
It is a beautiful sunny day. The route takes me along the river quay and its beaches, where horses freely roam around.
